What is (Organic) Search Engine Optimization?

Organic search engine optimization is the art of creating and marketing a website so that it appears in the natural or organic search engine results pages. Organic search engine optimization is natural, meaning that it is pure and safer, and more reliable than other form of internet advertising. For example a Google search will yield organic results on the left hand side of the page. These are the results that Google suggests based on the quality of the website.

Organic search engine optimization is complex and entails many different criteria. This is because search engine algorithms are complex and are looking for lots of things. Essentially the purpose and goal of the search engine is to supply the best results for a given query. As such, the engine looks at many different things when trying to find the best websites for that query string. An example might be that you search for “tennis rackets in utah”. The first goal of the engine is to yield what it thinks that you are looking for so that you can find a racket and move on with life. Some primary things that search engines are looking for are: size, growth, popularity, time, and relevancy.
