A very good way to increase your exposure online is to write articles and market them across the web. Article directories are constantly looking for new content that they can offer to their customers and visitors. The most important part in writing articles is the author’s biography.

The author’s biography is where you can insert more information about you and your company. Most importantly you can offer some links that will point back to your website. The most important thing you will want to do is to have the anchor text in the links for the keywords you are targeting.

Here is an example of what you may have in your biography:

Gaydon Leavitt is a web designer who is a professional in <a href=”http://www.vegaswebdesign.org/”>Las Vegas web design</a> and in <a href=”http://www.vegaswebdesign.org/webmarketing/search-engine-optimization/”>Las Vegas search engine optimization</a>.

Here is what this will look like after it is published:

Gaydon Leavitt is a web designer who is a professional in Las Vegas web design and in Las Vegas search engine optimization.

Normally you can have a link back to your homepage and a subpage. This will give the reader more insight into the author and into your company. Articles are great in helping to brand a company and to show off the company’s authority in a particular industry.

When you are writing articles make sure to include links back to your website in the author’s biography section. Some article directories will allow you to have links in the article body itself.

As you write more articles and market them through the article directories with links pointing back to your website it will increase your inbound links and improve your search engine rankings.

When writing articles to market across the web there are certain things to keep in mind. A lot of different punctuation and grammatical information can often be overlooked. Here are some punctuation and writing tips:

1. When you use dashes use two of them (example marketing tips–7 rules)

2. Use only 3 dots when leaving a opening (example…)

3. Use only one space after a period or any punctuation. Like this.

4. Do not use spaces after hyphens (example: smart-phone)

5. Never use excessive punctuation. It will not create a greater sense of urgency or emotion.

6. Periods and commas always go inside of quotation marks (example “I like this article.”)

7. Never put a space before a comma or a period.

8. Only use question marks after a direct question (example: Do you like this article?)

9. If the last word in a sentence ends in a period then do not end it another period ( He is the C.E.O. Then move on to the next sentence.)

These are some good things to keep in mind as some people use excessive punctuation in writing articles. Always be sure to spell everything correctly and speak in proper English making for easier reading. Stay away from acronyms the way people use when performing text on their phone.

These tips will help a reader more fully grasp and understand the actual content of the article without being distracted by improper punctuation and spelling. As you do this it will help when performing article marketing for a website.

When writing content for a website having keywords is essential. There are various things to keep in mind with keywords.

Frequency:

This is the amount of times a keyword is listed on a page. Generally the more keywords listed on a page means there is more relevance of that keyword on a page. Be careful not to over stuff the page with keywords. That is called keyword stuffing and is cheating the system.

Density:

This is the percentage of how many times your keyword is listed. The general parameters is between 2-8%.

Proximity:

This refers to keeping the keywords closer together. The tighter they are the better they will be indexed. For Example:

Having quality content is key to online success.

Content online must be quality to have online success.

If someone typed in “quality content” the first example would likely receive a higher rank.

Prominence:

This refers to where the keywords should be listed. Preferably in the title tag, meta tag, and the start of a web page.
